This morning my group and I got together to begin shooting the car scene in our film opening project. This is the scene where Maddie is getting dropped off by her neighbors afterschool to her house. She hears them talking about their summer plans, and how they have party that night, that Maddie isn't invited to.
\We had to get 2 shots, one of Maddie looking sad out the window, and one of the two neighbors in the front seat happily talking. When we first started to record we used my parents car for the scene. We did the shot of Maddie looking out the window, here you can see some behind the scenes of it. We didn't mind that the car wasn't moving because either way, it was just a close up shot of Maddie, the background couldn't be seen, so it was fine.
Than we came across the first problem, when we had to shoot the two neighbors talking in the front seat of the car, if it was on my parents car, in the shot you could tell the car wasn't moving. It was going to be a shot from their backs. Here you can see us initially shooting this part of the opening.
We decided that the best thing to do was switch to my partners car, where she could drive around while we recorded. When we got into her car, since I was in the back I was the one who filmed them. We wanted to capture all of the behind the scenes of the process of filming so I had to find a way to set up my phone to record the process. We tried laying it in the headboard of the back seat, but every time the car started moving it would fall back. We figured out how to make it stay, we put a hand sanitizer bottle in front of the phone and than layed it on a purse. So here you can see out final shot and how it will look.
